We got good press from the Clarion Ledger today about carLESS week. Quotes from our very own site authors Lizzie (dizziestar), Emily (ebake), and a good picture of them all bundled up on their bikes looking cold.

Hopefully we can get Whitney to post an executive summary of the report she writes to the blog.

Read with interest the article in today’s Clarion-Ledger regarding riding bikes in Jackson. However, there was no mention of the danger in riding in dark clothes or the use of tail lights. My wife and I travel the Natchez Trace frequently on Saturdays, and many see riders in dark clothes, which makes it very difficult to see them especially when they are in the shade. Hope they will all start wearing the bright green vests like some do and/or use the tail lights.

I just read your article in the Wed. paper. I am sending it to my daughter who lives in Laramie, WY. She grew up here in Brandon, so will find it quite interesting. This summer she biked across the U.S. (coast to coast) with 2 other girls, promoting bike riding. It took them almost 4 months. They did not have a car or van accompany them…they carried tents, sleeping bags, tools, etc with them. They also carried a laptop with them, so were able to blog about their progress, problems, accomplishments, encounters, etc. Along the way, they spoke to different groups (boys and girls clubs, etc.) about the benefits of bike riding, taking care of your bike, gave demonstrations, answered questions, etc. Their website, with blogs and pictures of the trip, are still available, http://www.jointhecycle.com.
